The Men of Jude is a men’s service organization for the parish. The group was formed in 1990. Its motto is “Faith, Family and Friendship”. These words appear on the Men of Jude lapel pin in the form of a triangle with a cross in the center. This pin is often worn by members during Mass and at church functions. The purpose of this group is to assist the parish and other parish organizations in any way possible. This is often through physical support (manual labor) to help complete projects. The Men of Jude often provide financial assistance to other organizations from monies earned throughout the year by sales of barbeque chicken and links, gumbo, spaghetti and meatball sauce, and chili. Their biggest fundraiser is the annual “Gold Rush” which all proceeds go to the Church.
The first Sunday of each month, the Men of Jude provide breakfast for all families of the parish after the 8a and 9:30a Masses. Over the years, this organization has helped buy various items to improve the Church. They also started a scholarship program. Each year, two students are selected to receive the scholarships. The organization is involved in helping outside community organizations that assist the needy by being involved in fundraisers such as food drives, assisting Some Other Place, etc.
During the Lenten season, the Men of Jude provide a “Morning of Reflection” and sponsor one night of Stations of the Cross.
Membership is open to all registered men of the parish. Realizing the importance of family, the members are not asked to sacrifice quality family time to attend group meetings or functions.
Meetings: Second Tuesday of every month, 6p-8p (social, dinner and meeting)
